INTERNSHIPS IN LIBERAL ARTS PROGRAMS

Nearly all departments in the College of Liberal Arts provide internship opportunities in their curriculum for undergraduate students. Internships are here defined as practicums or real-life learning experiences outside the classroom. They often provide students with stepping stones to jobs after graduation. Other benefits of internships include

  • resume enhancement
  • letters of recommendation from one or more persons in the workplace
  • improvement of job-related skills
  • refinement of career goals can validate career goals, or cause you to rethink them
  • personal development can help clarify personal values and develop self-confidence
