LIBERAL ARTS ALUMNA PAM PFEFFER

photo of School of Music Director Robert Weiss and alumna Pamela Pfeffer Originally, from Metropolis, Illinois, Mrs. Pam Pfeffer -- shown in the image with School of Music Director Bob Weiss -- is the granddaughter of the late Lindell W. Sturgis, longtime SIU Trustee and board chairman. She received her Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from SIUC in 1967 and also holds a master's degree in mathematics from Vanderbilt University.

While a student at SIUC, she was head majorette with the Marching Salukis and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She has worked for Third National Bank as a lending officer and branch manager, and taught mathematics at the University of Tennessee at Nashville.

Mrs. Pfeffer has served on the SIU Foundation Board since 1995 and is active in Reading is Fundamental, serving as Vice Chair of the National Advisory Council. She is also very active with her church, her children's schools, the Tennessee Commission on National and Community Service, and the Nashville Symphony.

Mrs. Pfeffer and her husband, Phil Pfeffer, have three adult sons, John-Lindell, James, and David.
