Student Affairs
The Associate Dean for Student and Curricular Affairs:
- processes all grade changes for the College;
- provides liaison between students and faculty, and adjudicates grading problems;
- approves late withdrawals and late adds;
- approves overloads; approves minors and distributions outside the College;
- provides liaison with the Office of Admissions and Records;
- represents the College on Graduation Appeals Committee;
- processes and adjudicates readmission to the College after suspension.
Curriculum and Programs
The Associate Dean for Student and Curricular Affairs:
- processes, approves, and handles forms for adding, modifying, and dropping courses and degree requirements;
- maintains and checks catalog copy of the College;
- confers with faculty on curriculum, program ideas, and courses;
- provides liaison with other Colleges in interdisciplinary courses and programs;
- plans Honors Day and Graduation ceremonies;
- serves as Director of the University Studies degree program;
- coordinates distance learning activities.
Evaluation of Instructors and Instructional Programs
The Associate Dean for Student and Curricular Affairs:
- assists the College Dean, Chairs and Directors, and faculty in developing methods of evaluating curricula, courses, and instructors of College academic programs;
- coordinates College assessment of undergraduate majors and University Core Curriculum;
- assists the Dean in tenure, promotion and merit evaluations as these activities relate to the College's academic programs;
- assists the Dean with interviewing and screening of faculty candidates.

The Associate Dean for Student and Curricular Affairs:
Recruitment and Retention
The Associate Dean for Student and Curricular Affairs:
- takes the lead, with the Dean, in the development and implementation of a student recruitment and retention plan for the College;
- supervises the Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention;
- serves as coordinator of the College's enrollment management plan;
- assists the Dean in the development and implementation of a plan to raise new financial assistance money for student recruitment;
- represents the College at off-campus guest functions (high school and community college guest days, counselor guest days, and transfer days).

The Associate Dean for Student and Curricular Affairs is a liaison between the College of Liberal Arts Dean's Office and other units, including:
Miscellaneous
The Associate Dean for Student and Curricular Affairs:
- serves as a resource person for the SIUC Sexual Harassment Policy
- conducts sexual harassment workshops;
- investigates sexual harassment complaints.
- assumes fiscal signature responsibility of the Dean and the other Associate Dean when necessary;
- assumes duties of the Dean and the other Associate Dean when necessary;
- serves as resource person on the College of Liberal Arts Council and its committees;
- represents the College in the absence of the Dean;
- participates in College budget and planning activities;
- performs other duties as assigned by the Dean.
